Serbian language for foreigners

Slovce School organises private Serbian language lessons for people over 16 years old who want to learn the basics of Serbian.

Organisation of lessons

Lessons are individual or in small groups and are adapted to your needs: for travel, visiting relatives or business Serbian.

Classes are held online via Teams or in person in the vicinity of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. They are given by highly educated teachers, whose mother tongue is Serbian and who have many years of experience in teaching Serbian to foreigners.

You determine the beginning, time and frequency of classes in agreement with the teacher, and the tempo of classes is com­pletely adjusted to you. We work in blocks of 10 lessons. After each block, you decide whether you want to continue with the course.

The beginners course lasts on average 12 months with a frequency of one lesson a week, and the advanced course lasts on average 9 months. Homework requires 1-2 hours per week depending on your motivation.

Teaching material

The books (with exercises and audio exercises) used are:

  • Učimo srpski 1 (publisher: Azbukum), level CEF A1­-A2
  • Učimo srpski 2 (publisher: Azbukum), level CEF A2-B1

Additionally, our own study material is used, including digital exercises on this site. Other books can be used in agreement with the teacher.

Course contents

During the class, practical situations, pronunciation, grammar, spelling are practiced and vocabulary is built.

The initial lessons are in Latin script, and Cyrillic is introduced later.

The explanations are in Dutch and/or in English depending on what you prefer.

Result

At the end of the beginners course, you have learned the basic words in the Serbian language necessary for simple communication, pronunciation, the Cyrillic alphabet and basic grammar, such as verb tenses, sentence structure, cases, regular and irregular verbs.

At the end of the advanced course you can discuss topics of personal interest or topics related to everyday life.

Price

One trial lesson is free of charge. A private lesson (60 min) for one person is €35 and for two person €45.
